The site is a former timber yard, regenerated with high quality housing using many details found within the local vernacular. Our brief, to provide a contemporary solution within this context, gave us an opportunity to integrate modern construction techniques with traditional materials. The use of local stone, brickwork and timber reinforces the character of the existing housing stock, and by using gabion walls and cedar boarding a hierarchy is established to allow easy differentiation between this building and the residential units.

The building is clearly contemporary in its approach and not only sits comfortably within its rural setting but contributes positively to the area.
