This project aimed to link an existing detached classroom back in with the main school. The layout concept for the proposed link extension through consultation with the school and understanding the educational space requirements identified by them. There was a clear desire to achieve an integrated yet separate area for use by the pre-school and foundation classroom with the possibility that activities could flow out from the existing classrooms.
A newly formed entrance with canopy over provides a new entrance for the pre-school block. In this area a dedicated space for cloaks for use by the preschool frees up space within the classroom. The provision of an area for separate activities was requested that could be accessed from both classrooms. As a result the layout was developed with this area to the centre of the new building creating a semi enclosed space separate yet integrated.
