Design Award for Spurn Discovery Centre!
June 14, 2018

We're delighted to announce that the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Discovery Centre at Spurn Point won Best Public Service Building at last night's LABC Awards in York.
As part of the North and East Yorkshire Building Excellence Award, the building placed first place in the Best Public Service Building category and was shortlisted in the categories of Best Educational Building and Best Large Commercial Building .
Terry Smithson, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s Regional Director said; “We are absolutely delighted that Spurn Discovery Centre has won this award – it recognises the work of everyone involved. It was essential that the design met the demands of a nationally important nature reserve in one of the wildest places in Britain, so it’s a rather special and unique building. We’ve had many positive comments from visitors and school groups who use and enjoy the space – and most importantly, are inspired to care for our fragile marine environment and its wildlife.”
A huge well done to all involved!!
